E' disponibile nella sezione download del portale Tesseract.it un nuovo zip relativo all'ambiente di sviluppo Borland Turbo C. Il file in questione sostituisce il precedente e facilita l'installazione dello stesso essendo richiesta la sola scompattazione dell'archivio nella radice dell'unità di volume c:

Il file di configurazione interno è già predisposto per tale posizione sul file system.

E' in linea un aggiornamento di “Io, Informatico” relativo al capitolo dedicato alle reti di computer. Sono stati migliorati diversi aspetti, sia di carattere generale relativamente alle modalità di trasmissione sia aspetti specifici attinenti al modello ISO/OSI.

Worf, uno dei più famosi abitanti del pianeta Klingon, potrebbe sembrare estraneo al contesto in oggetto: per scoprirne l'attinenza non resta che consultare il capitolo in questione (il numero 10).

E' in linea nella sezione "Prodotti" l'ultima versione di SoftPromo etichettata come 7.2 BUILD 47-717.

SystemRescueCd è un sistema  basato su Linux per il recupero di hard disk “rovinati” disponibile come CD avviabile o su penna USB. Risulta di eccezionale utilità  per per l'amministrazione  e la riparazione di sistemi dopo un crash.

Il suo scopo è di fornire un modo semplificato per creare ed editare partizioni dell'hard disk. E' dotato di diversi tools  di sistema come parted, partimage, fstools ed altri classici e basilari come midnight commander.  Il kernel supporta svariati tipi di file system (ext2/ext3/ext4, reiserfs, reiser4, btrfs, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, iso9660)ma anche network filesystems (samba and nfs).

L'ultima versione rilasciata è la 1.3.0 del 14 settembre 2009.

E' finalmente disponibile per il download una bozza preliminare del capitolo 8 del testo “Io, Informatico”. Si tratta del capitolo relativo ai linguaggi di programmazione. In esso potrete trovare una classificazione sui linguaggi e relativi paradigmi di programmazione unitamente ad carrellata sulle varie generazioni di linguaggi.

Seppur trattandosi di una versione molto classificabile come “alfa”  la ritengo comunque degna di nota anche per la presenza di diverse “chicche informative” relative al versioning del software ed allo sviluppo in generale.

L'aggiornamento (detto anche upgrade) di un software è importante; fondamentale quando il software in questione è un sistema operativo.
Di seguito riporto qualche indicazione per l'upgrade di Ubuntu relativamente alla versione server.

Come noto le versioni di Ubuntu vengano rilasciate ogni 6 mesi e riportano un numero di versione del tipo aa.mm
dove aa è l'anno di rilascio e mm il mese.
Ad esempio Ubuntu 9.04 è la versione rilasciata nell'aprile dell'anno 2009.
Di tanto in tanto vengono rilasciate delle patch per aggiornare la versione corrente.

Per aggiornare la propria versione corrente con tali ultime patch si può procedere come segue:

$sudo apt-get update (per aggiornare la sources.list per nuovi pacchetti)
$sudo apt-get upgrade

RobotCub è un progetto fondato dalla Commissione Europea tramite la Unit E5 "Cognitive Systems, Interaction & Robotics".

Il principale obiettivo è quello di studiare le capacità cognitive attraverso l'implementazione di un robot umanoide dell'età apparente di circa 3 anni e mezzo: iCub.

Si tratta di un progetto "open" sotto vari punti di vista: distribuzione libera della piattaforma, sviluppo di software open-source e la disponibilità ad includere nuovi partner e varie forme di collaborazione da tutto il mondo.
